What Happens at a Pet Sitter Meet and Greet?
A meet and greet is a free visit before any booking, where the pet sitter meets you and your pet at home and goes through everything the care will involve. With Salt & Sand Paws in Charlottetown, Stratford and Cornwall, every new booking starts with one, and nothing is booked until both sides are comfortable.
Why does a pet sitter meet your pet before the first booking?
Meeting with you in the room helps a pet get used to someone new. It also lets the sitter see the routine where the care will happen, in your home, instead of hearing about it for the first time on the day you leave.
What does the meet and greet cover?
The conversation follows your pet's day from start to finish. A Salt & Sand Paws meet and greet covers:
- the daily routine and feeding
- allergies and any medication
- training, play, walks and favourite activities
- how the sitter will get into your home
- your emergency contacts and your veterinarian's information
- your questions, and the paperwork
What should you have ready?
A few things written down make the visit quicker and mean nothing gets missed: your veterinarian's name and phone number, an emergency contact other than yourself, feeding amounts and times, and any medication with its dose and schedule. If your pet takes medication, Kim can give it during visits for $5.
What happens after the meet and greet?
Once you are both comfortable, the booking goes ahead. Regular services need 24 hours notice to cancel and vacation or overnight bookings need seven days, so it is worth settling your dates after the meet and greet rather than before. Payment is due at the time of service, or in advance for scheduled bookings, by e-transfer, PayPal or cash.
